The SR175 turbo kit was conceived in the year 2001 in order to satisfy the demands of those who used the Renault 5 GT cars for slalom and uphill races with the aim of obtaining a power of about 170 – 180 hp with high response at low engine revs. After 15 years the kit is still supplied both for sports applications and as a simple replacement to repair the engines whose original turbine has given up as the original turbocharger is no longer available on the market due to the advanced age of the cars. On the turbine is installed a pneumatic waste-type waste gate actuator made of a fluoro-silicon membrane, a hot stabilized spring and a centering device. The actuator is supplied pre-calibrated to give a boost pressure of about 1.2 Bar but if desired it can be raised up to about 1.8 Bar.

Technically the concept of the SR175 kit is simple, change the parameters of the supercharging in order to obtain greater power, in this case it is necessary to completely change the physical dimensions of the impellers both exhaust and suction as well as the desired turbine doing this, a balance has to be respected in order to avoid big stress to the mechanical part or the shaft and the thrust bearing. By doing so, the quantity of the intake air can be increased without too much changing the delivery pressure, but rather by reducing the exhaust back pressure. On the R5 you can get about 170 – 180 horsepower with the standard engine with a stock engine … adjusting the boost pressure to about 1.3 – 1.4 Bar and. In order to do a great job is suggested to modify the carbureattor diffuser (ex group A type). SR175 is based on a Mitsubishi turbocharged base with oil cooling, HiSi turbine crankcase capable of withstanding maximum peak temperatures around 920 ° C. In the case of a well-prepared engine (steel barrels, molded pistons, and ring head gasket) you can increase the boost pressure reaching the value of 1.7 Bar and around 200hp as maximum output.
Economical, reliable, performing and incredibly tested over the years SR175 is still today the real reference point for those who want to enhance their engine with expertise.

The Kit includes:
n. 1 Mitsubishi turbo correctly oriented for installation in order to use the original air sleeves, equipped with 360 ° thrust washer and double floating bush (the most reliable solution on the market today)
n. 1 adapter (down pipe) between turbine and exhaust pipe;
n. 1 turbo gasket kit;
n. 1 oil delivery pipe complete with fittings;
n. 1 oil outlet tube;
n. 1 Sticker set

Optional:
Compressor impeller installation made of Avional forged bar (for increased air mass and reliability related to rotor speed);
